Some schools also print newsletters, costing them additional expenses in the form of paper and print costs.<\/p>\n<p>We surveyed parents from Public, Private and Charter schools around the country to find what they thought of school newsletters. The response was not surprising. Over 70% of parents do not read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schoolcues.com\/blog\/5-things-you-should-address-on-your-school-newsletter\/\">school newsletters<\/a>. The reasons quoted were all related to the newsletter content:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Not relevant to the parent.<\/li>\n<li>Too much information.<\/li>\n<li>Does not provide specific actions for busy parents.<\/li>\n<li>Does not offer any specific value to keep the parents interested or engaged.<\/li>\n<li>Discounts the fact that parents are equally busy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We asked parents what would make them read their school\u2019s newsletters. The four most important factors that would make parents read their school or class newsletters were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Short newsletters (&lt; 100 words)<\/li>\n<li>Specific content<\/li>\n<li>Directly relevant to their child and<\/li>\n<li>Delivered to their email inbox or mobile device<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We will continue to discuss how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schoolcues.com\/blog\/why-standard-newsletter-platforms-dont-work-for-sending-school-newsletters\/\">newsletters can be made more valuable for both schools<\/a> and parents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>School administrators and teachers spend a lot of time crafting fancy newsletters, with pretty colors and pictures.
